Hello FF Addicts, I'll be packing my bags and making the trek over here every Wednesday to give you the skinny on all the major fantasy football injuries. This should be a short little thing (by request), but hopefully you all enjoy my ramblings enough to have me back next week. Keep in mind that I'm merely going over the
immediate backup on that specific team. Anyways, let's start with the
Eagles, because week four is shaping up to be a rough match-up for them.
The Injuries
Michael Vick: Technically his status against the 49ers next week
is up in the air, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Even if it is his
non-throwing hand, a large contusion can't be easy to play with,
especially based on the swelling. Mike Kafka has a 47.7 QB rating and
Vince Young is still recovering from a weak hamstring so it will be
interesting to see where the Eagles go in Week 4. If he winds up
sitting don't worry about picking up any of this backups. (Edit: This was written on Monday, and as of now Vick is listed as a sure start for the Eagles. Still, the hand won't be healed by then, and the way he gets hit this won't be his last missed game this season. You heard it here...well probably last)
Jeremy Maclin: The Eagles seem to be playing it fast and loose
with the phrase "ruled out". First Vick, and now Maclin is being listed
as day-to-day when the original thought was that he'd miss week four.
At the very least he'll be missing practice time, and hamstring injuries
can be worrying for a receiver. If you have room on your team I'd add
Steve Smith as insurance, but seeing that this injury would only limit
Maclin for this week alone, I wouldn't look too much into Smith.
Kenny Britt: Hey, who'd of guessed that Britt's season would be
cut short by injury, and not by him being thrown in the slammer?
Apparently it's an ACL and MCL tear, and the Tennessee Titans fear he
will be lost for the season. Nate Washington was already having a solid
year, but Britt's injury makes Washington a must start most weeks.
Damian Williams and Lavelle Hawkins are also worth a mention, but I
wouldn't pick them up 'till they show more production.
The Replacements
Good to Go: Nate Washington
Stay AWAY: Mike Kafka
Wait and See: Damian Williams, Lavelle Hawkins, Steve Smith.

Britt tore his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and had also underwent surgery. I believe that with his injuries he is done for this season and will likely stay in Nashville to do all his rehab.
ReplyDeleteWide receiver Maclin, who has a Grade 2 separated shoulder and hamstring injury, once again sat out a light practice. Without him and Vick, the team has a slim chance of making the postseason.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only Britt's injury that's becoming a trouble. During the NFL offseason, he had multiple run-ins with the law. Good thing that prosecutors dropped the charges against him, who was accused of making false statements on a driver's license application.
ReplyDeleteRumors is going around that one team is very interested in bringing him in. Guess the idea of retirement hasn't cross his mind yet.
